How do you get Hiccups ?

Hiccups are scientifically known as Synchronous Diaphragmatic Flutters (SDFs). They are quite annoying whose reasons most of the people don't know. They start suddenly and are very difficult to stop sometimes.




What are hiccups?

Hiccups are involuntary contractions of the diaphragm. Diaphragm is the muscle which divides the chest from the stomach and helps in getting air in and out of the lungs by pumping. These spasms causes interruption in normal breathing. Hiccups are reflex actions which starts in order to protect the body.

How do you get hiccups?

There are many reasons as to why we get hiccups. Most of the times it is caused by eating some hot food or drink. Another very common reason is trapped air near the diaphragm. The second one is caused mainly due to eating or drinking quickly.

How to get rid of hiccups?

Hiccups can be cured by trying out many things one be one. Firstly try to drink some water. If this doesn't work try to stop you breathe as long as comfortable for you. Another option is to breathe while your mouth and nose are cupped with your hands so that you breath in carbon dioxide for a few times. Sudden shock or fright may also stop hiccups but if it persists consult a Doctor.
